You might have noticed that it has been some time since we issued a blog detailing new product updates and releases.
Last year the team were excited to announce the release of a number of large modules, as well a new companion app. As you can appreciate this involved a lot of development time and effort, which resulted with the team in the need of a well-earned break. As such we made a conscious effort to clear our product roadmap, so that the first half of 2023 would only be spent correcting minor code/bug fixes, looking at how we can increase loading speeds and auditing our existing processes.
We have also used this time to closely monitor customer feedback, user interactions and feature requests. As always, your feedback is invaluable, and our product wish list is absolutely bursting at the seams with great ideas to help make managing your construction and engineering business that much easier. Even though we were on a break, the development team have managed to sneak in some upgrades during the month of July, including:
- Ability to update price lists from your purchase orders and expense
- Prepopulate purchase order details using description field
- Inventory Tags and Additional part numbers
- Creation of Material Reports
- Invoice attachments – reset attachment default to off
Update pricing lists from purchase order or expenses
Trying to tackle the non-stop barrage of price increases experienced within the building and construction industry has provided the perfect opportunity for our team to improve our business AI.
QicWorks coding now recognises a change in your buy price and allows you to quickly adjust your net and billable tables to suit, before you save your purchase order or expense.
If your item is listed within your pricing tables and you edit the unit price, you will then be offered the opportunity to update your price lists as well.
Users can either manually update individual prices or apply a percentage markup to all your pricing tables, ensuring that you are not supplying this product or service at a loss.
We also recommend you enter a reason for the change, so you can keep on top of all your updates.
All price changes will note the user, time and date stamp of the change. This historical data is then used to populate our Price Change report (see below for details.)
Prepopulate purchase order details using description field
Another great time saver suggested by our community was the ability to preload Supplier, Unit of Measure, SKU and Unit Rate details for a material by searching for it within the description field.
Existing code allowed Users to search within the SKU field only.
Now Users search for materials within the description field as well.
Inventory Tags and inclusion of additional part numbers
Similar in functionality to our Job and Task tags, we have now introduced material or inventory tags. Not only can you create an unrestricted number of tags, but they are also free form, so you have complete control over naming conventions. (Simply type in the tag name and hit enter to save.)
Tags and part numbers can now be added manually to individual materials or uploaded via our bulk import spreadsheet.
Part numbers are also free text and should be separated by a comma.
Tags are then used to help search and filter your inventory table and pricing lists, making it easier to find and group your materials.
Creation of Material Reports
We have also released some new material and inventory reports, designed to help you track material, price and usage movements. These reports are found under Business>Detailed Reports>Material & Inventory Reports.
Here you can build your report data to show:
Material Usage - Search material history to see which jobs materials have been used on
Price Changes - Search material history to when prices changes were made
Procurement History - Search to see when this item was purchased
Material by Supplier - Find all materials listed with this Supplier
Material by Location & Bin - Search materials by their storage location and bin numbers
Invoice attachments – reset attachment default to off
Users would have seen an email on behalf of our dev team, circulate late June – entitled "Quick Question: Creating an Invoice"
We wanted to confirm user preference when it comes to automatically attaching attachments to your newly created invoice ie would you prefer the following are defaulted as ON or OFF?
ON = ticks are already in place (no change)
OFF = you would need to manually tick/select the items you wish to attach.
This survey resulted in an overwhelming majority of 80% of respondents voting for Off.
