We’re back with another edition of the Employment Hero product update, where we share all of the latest and greatest updates from the previous month. With the first month of 2024 done and dusted, we’re sharing all the product updates we’ve been hard at work on this year.
Over the last month we’ve introduced integrations with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, created expense and leave workflows, given a makeover to our HR reports, created a centralised view for feedback, enhanced our Custom Surveys and lots more. It’s all here and ready for you to use in-platform – let’s get to it!
Set up workflows to automate Google Workspace & Microsoft 365 accounts when an employee starts or leaves your organisation
We’re excited to share that onboarding and offboarding employees just got a whole lot easier! Now, you can effortlessly set up workflows to create a company email address for your new starters or suspend a terminated employee’s access to Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
Put simply, software provisioning allows you to streamline the account creation process for employees and administrators – and it’s going to make your onboarding and offboarding process even easier.
Please note: This feature is available now as a pre-release beta and may change in the future.

Introducing Expense Workflows, a multi-level expense approval feature
Is employee expense management a time-consuming and confusing process in your business? To address this universal challenge, we’ve developed a brand new feature for Platinum customers, designed to automate your expense approvals. Now you can customise your expenses workflow to send expense claims to the right people, saving you precious time.
Workflows allows you to build multi-level workflows for expense approvals customised to fit your business’ expense needs. Lean into our suite of powerful filters, triggers, conditions and automations to make processing expenses a breeze for you, your employees and your finance team.
With Workflows, you can add multiple levels of approvals to an expense claim before it becomes fully approved by automating logic definition. For example, users who submit an expense claim under $100, are submitted by a specific employee, or require multiple approvers can be sent straight to the right people or even be automatically approved.
Sign up for open beta now and be one of the first to streamline your business expense management with Workflows.
Please note: This feature is available now on a pre-release beta basis.

Say hello to Leave Workflows, a multi-level leave approval feature
Similar to Expense Workflows, we’re excited to share that we’ve just released Leave Workflows – a flexible workflow option where you can automate the leave request approve/decline flow.
This means you can customise the employee leave request workflow to send leave requests wherever they need, as well as enable multiple levels of approvers to finalise a leave request.
So, what could this automation look like for businesses? Let’s take a look at some examples and how you could automate leave requests.
- WHEN a leave request is submitted by an employee, IF hours of leave is greater than 24, THEN the leave request will be sent to the leadership team for approval.
- WHEN a leave request is submitted by an employee, IF hours of leave is greater than 80, THEN the leave request will be automatically declined.
- WHEN a leave request is submitted by an employee, IF the leave request comment contains “christmas”, THEN the leave request will be automatically approved.
- WHEN a leave request is submitted by an employee, IF the date from is after 20th December AND date to is before 10th January, THEN the leave request will be automatically approved.
Please note: This feature is available now on a pre-release beta basis.

This is accessible via Recruitment > SmartMatch and allows you to view the top 5 roles in your organisation, the 5 most recently saved search results, and preview interested candidates on the dashboard.
We’ve also given users the ability to create new saved searches from the dashboard, if there are no existing saved searches. Additionally, by clicking ‘See all’ on the Interested Candidates dashboard preview, you can visit the dedicated Interested Candidates tab.
