It’s been an exciting month for our product teams, with plenty of new features in Xero as well as the acquisitions of Planday and Tickstar. Here’s an overview of the key product releases that dropped in the past month. Don’t forget, our dedicated support team is here to help you make the most of your Xero subscription.
New features
Secure your account with Multi-Factor Authentication — Global
To make sure we continue to keep your Xero account secure, we’re making Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) mandatory for all Xero customers globally in the year ahead. You can set up MFA on your account by downloading our new authenticator app called Xero Verify. It only takes a few minutes to set up and sends a push notification to your phone when you log in, so you can just tap and go.
Upload more documents to Hubdoc — Global
With the latest Hubdoc update, you can now upload up to 1,000 documents to Hubdoc in a 24-hour period. Previously the limit was 300 documents. Remember, there’s no limit to the number of documents you can store in Hubdoc. Learn more about getting documents into Hubdoc on Xero Central.
Share receipts with Xero Expenses — Global
Submitting expense claims on the go is now easier than ever. Simply open a receipt on your mobile device from an email, photo or folder. Then tap share and select the Xero Expenses app. This automatically creates an expense claim with the information on the receipt. You’ll get a notification when the claim is ready to be submitted.
Display and sort reports by account code — Global
The latest feature release from the reporting team allows you to display and sort your Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet new reports by account codes. To use this feature, select ‘show account codes’ in the options menu. This will give you a better understanding of the chart of accounts within your reports.
Enjoy a new GoCardless experience in Xero — Global
We’ve released a new GoCardless integration that makes it easy to set up direct debits (automatic bank-to-bank payments) for your customers. You can do this for both one-off and recurring payments via the payment services screen, or from an invoice. If you have already set up direct debits with GoCardless, you can continue using the GoCardless for Xero app.
Split transactions across accounts and tax rates — Global
Android users can now create a new spend or receive money transaction during the bank reconciliation process in the Xero Accounting App, and code it to as many accounts and tax rates as needed. Simply select the option to split into items and quantities and fill in the details. Coming soon to iOS users.
Manage activity statements in Xero Tax — AU
Automatic activity statements in Xero Tax and Xero Practice Manager are a huge time saver, but we know that some of your clients may prefer to lodge activity statements themselves. That’s why we’re now giving you the option to select which clients manage their own logements, in the client record. You can also select which period activity statements should be created for other clients.
Save time and energy with document packs — AU
Document packs in Xero HQ are now available to all Xero partners in Australia. With document packs, you can combine tax returns from Xero Tax, reports from a client’s Xero organisation, and PDFs from your computer. Then add signature lines, upload to a secure online portal, and invite your client to sign using Xero Sign powered by Adobe Sign. You can use document packs for free until 15 April, 2021.
Stay updated on payroll changes for EOFY — NZ
There are a number of changes that New Zealand employers need to know about this year, from increased minimum wages to new tax rates. We’ve made it as easy as possible for you to manage your EOFY tasks in Xero Payroll, with many of the changes automatically applied, so you can pay employees correctly and stay compliant.
Manage off-payroll workers in Xero Payroll — UK
We’ve made it fast and easy to onboard, manage and process off-payroll workers in Xero Payroll. The required reporting is sent via RTI filings, so you can feel confident that you’ll remain compliant with HMRC legislation. These changes are in line with the IR35 legislation that will come into effect on 6 April 2021.
