We hinted at this a little while ago and now it's officially here! We've moved from our old Quick and Advanced Reports to report Templates. Templates are easy to use and further simplify the reporting experience on Syft. The new names are also intended to be easier to understand, so you don't have to spend time debating whether your reports are "quick" or "advanced".

At the end of the day, the process of building a report should be simple so that you can dedicate your time and energy to interpreting what the report says rather than how to put it together. Read all about our new report Templates below!

All about templates

If you take a look at the left side panel on Syft, you will see that Quick and Advanced Reports have now merged into Templates. So, as a result, the three tabs you find under Reports are now: Templates, Live Views, and Schedules.

There are two types of templates:

  1. Generic templates which can be used for any entity; and
  2. Cutomized templates for specific entities (these have more features!).

Many more changes have also been implemented to make editing and creating reports more intuitive, streamlined, and easy to use. Plus, you can create styled reports for any of your templates.

Here are a few more questions you may have - and their answers.

What does the little building icon next to templates mean?

The building icon next to a template will show you whether this template can be built for a specific entity (previously known as Advanced Reports) or built for multiple entities (previously known as Quick Reports).

What happens when you create a new template?

When you click on the "Create template" button, you will be prompted to select which type of report you would like to build. Your options are:

  • A report template for any entity (previously Quick Reports); or
  • A report template for a specific entity (previously Advanced Reports).
Note đź“ť: The template for any entity will automatically be shared with your organization.

Making reporting simple

We know that when it comes to making software better, this doesn't necessarily mean higher degrees of sophistication. More often that not, the simpler a piece of software is, the more effective it is. Just as we strive to make financial data simple, so too do we strive to make reporting simpler - and Templates will do just that.

For more information on making the most of reports on Syft, read our detailed Guide to Reporting. Otherwise, I hope you will enjoy this new feature and that it will help you to streamline your reporting process.

Why leave it there?
