There is so much to see and do at Xerocon London 2022, from entertaining activities to inspiring keynotes, that it can be hard to know where to start.

We recommend taking in as much as possible during the event – as well as leaving time for those all-important catch-ups with colleagues and peers – and urge you to check out some of the brilliant breakout sessions taking place across the two days.

Here are five sessions to check out at this year’s Xerocon in London.

HMRC’s digital strategy: the next 10 years (Wed 20 July, 2.30pm)

Making Tax Digital (MTD) has been the elephant in the room for a long time now. Accountants and many of their clients will be extremely familiar with those three letters and precisely what they mean – the beginning of HMRC’s 10-year digital strategy, which outlines an ambitious plan to create a fully digital economy.

Now two years in, it’s time to tackle the journey so far. This session brings industry insiders together to address progress to date, how tax ‘will just happen’, and what we can learn from countries leading the charge. Our expert panel will also discuss how you can make the most of the push to digitalisation, and what it means for the future of the profession.

Changing times: macro issues shaping the future (Wed 20 July, 3.30pm)

This panel addresses some of the major issues impacting accountants now and in the future. While such a vast topic could easily last the whole afternoon, we’ve whittled it down to three key issues that accountants and their clients are facing: the changing workforce, sustainability and digitalisation.

We understand that accountants are facing a period of seismic change, and that these evolving issues are posing new challenges, and opportunities, for you and your clients.

In this breakout session, our expert panel outlines how practices can adapt to these changes, the key opportunities they present, and practical tips to help you thrive in the future.

Empowering clients to create better workplaces (Wed 20 July, 4.30pm)

How can small businesses create better workplaces? Our panel will discuss how the right tools can make the most critical employee admin processes seamless, enabling business owners to focus on looking after their people and driving success, while you can help them stay compliant and plan ahead.

In addition, our panel will offer tips to help clients cut down on payroll processing, and achieve better workplaces as a result.

Helping clients avoid the cash flow crunch (Thur 21 July, 11.35am)

It’s no secret that small businesses in the UK are struggling. Facing a number of challenges, from inflation to staff shortages, they need our understanding and support more than ever.

In this session, we’ll shine a light on the cash flow crisis which is damaging so many. Moreover, we’ll share the latest updates that will help your clients better manage the funds flowing in and out of their business, from preparing quotes and sending invoices, to getting paid and managing outgoing bills and expenses.

Wellbeing: minding your business (Thur 21 July, 12.30pm)

Striking a balance between work and mental health can feel almost impossible for small business owners already under a huge amount of pressure. It’s striking that our recent study found two out of five UK small business owners believe their business will recover financially before they recover emotionally and mentally from the pandemic.

Wellbeing is an important consideration for you and your clients, and so in this session, we’ll hear about some real-life examples and offer practical tips for better managing mental health.

While these breakouts offer a wealth of content for you to enjoy, there are so many more to check out and make the perfect Xerocon experience on 20-21 July at Tobacco Dock, London. In the meantime, why not join the conversation on social media, using the hashtag #Xerocon, or check out our Twitter or Instagram for live updates at the event.
