Introducing our new HS Code functionality and what it can do for you.

As of this week, Expandly has made it possible for users to ensure customs authorities all over the world are able to identify the contents of their packages.

New functionality within Expandly allows you to add HS Code (Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System) information to new and existing products, both individually and in bulk, and their variations to allow international shipments to be generated for your sales orders.

HS Code information ensures you correctly classify a product being shipped internationally to accurately calculate taxes and duties and apply any necessary restrictions.

In some carrier instances, HS Codes are a mandatory requirement when shipping internationality and you will be unable to generate shipments if the HS Code information is not applied to your products. If you don’t include an HS Code, you risk the receiver paying the wrong tax and it could even delay the shipment.

We have made it so you can view and edit this HS Code information at a product and sales order level in Expandly. Once configured, HS Code information will automatically appear on the sales order. You do have the option to add or edit HS Code details at an order level as well if you do not wish for the information to be applied automatically.

Read all about configuring and applying HS Codes within Expandly in this helpful guide, located in our Help Centre.
